Our Bilingual Lamrim class, S15G027E, made an offering of a musical mashup of: “相思湖畔” and the English Translated version of “红宝石白曼达” for our MRD Insightful praises offering.

Originally, for MRD 2018, we wanted to offer just 相思湖畔。 It made sense as a few of us in class performed it in a nursing home this year in January.

However, as a bilingual class, we considered presenting an English Insightful Praise too. Thus, we added Red Rubies White Mandala which was translated by me in 2016. During our August MRD bonding activity in the lovely home of Brother Eng Cheong and our Co-monitor, Sister Serena, we had the honour of having Venerable Bensi, Sister Hazel and Sister Nancy who gave the lyrics an upgrade! REJOICE TO ALL！

A class that compose lyrics, sing, dance, eat and

study Lamrim together will stay together

“ON OUR WAY TO HAPPINESS” so as to achieve

BUDDHAHOOD!

WE WILL GET THERE!

It is a joyous day for participating Lamrim students to observe the merits and appreciate the kindness (OMAK) of performing Lamrim classes as well as attendees and volunteers.
OMAK our Master and Teacher for introducing and guiding us in receiving this supreme gift ~ THE LAMRIM!
It is their compassionate and remarkable way to reach out to us and show a step-by-step way to cultivate as a Mahayana Buddhist!

What comes to your mind when you think of a teacher? Are they just people who step into the classroom to teach you Math, Science, English and etc?

I have never had the chance to meet our Master but right from the first time I heard his voice, my tears could not stop flowing.

To me, he is like a compassionate Grandfather who worries about my future and wants the best for me.

As our Teacher shared so very aptly, we all know that we will not just trust any person with no reason. It is impossible for us to believe that a person will treat us well unconditionally and bring us to a very beautiful place without asking any questions!

For me, Shifu is a person whom I trust and I’m going to follow his footsteps.

Such a decision would not be possible if our heart and mind are not in concordance.

There must have been many causes planted in the past, such that it will ripen to this fruition, bringing about this trust!

Shifu, I pledge to follow you.

As I was participating in the MRD puja and singing to the song, “拉紧我的手”, I thank Master for giving me such a great environment to learn and practise the Dharma. With such great virtuous friends and companions who support each other through thick and thin like a big family, I truly feel blessed to be home.

This time, I am committed to hold on tight and not let go!

* This is the 20th and final featured sharing in our launch of a new series: A Practitioner’s Reflection. Tiong Boon is the Monitor of our S15G027E class. He is joined by Sister Serena and Brother Samuel who are our Co-Monitors. The class also has two care co-ordinators who look into the welfare of the students and assist in administrative and logistic matters of the class.
From 2015-2017, we were well-taken care of by care co-ordinators： Jasmine and Angela. In 2018 we continue to have Angela who is joined by Nina as our care co-ordinator. Jasmine currently serves in another volunteer group of BW Monastery. Rejoice!
Starting from 4 June 2018, every Monday morning, we plan to publish a sharing by one of our S15G027E class member.
This series was inspired by our sharing done during our Lamrim Discussion Class when a new student came to join us on 21 May 2018. Often people wonder, what makes people put aside precious time once a week amidst all the busy schedule and commitments to attend the class. Where’s the “magic”, ‘why”, “benefit” or “output”? Let’s hear from the different individuals from all walks of life, sharing their take on this.
In conjunction with 2018 Master’s Remembrance Day, this is also our way to thank our lineage masters for their wisdom and compassion by reflecting on the merits of the teachings and turning the Dharma Wheel by sharing how Dharma has made us a better person.
We hope that more will be inspired to learn the way of the Buddha and practice it in their daily lives.
GRATITUDE TO THE TRIPLE GEMS AND OUR LINEAGE MASTERS!
MAY THE LIVES OF THE VENERABLE SPIRITUAL MASTERS BE STABLE,
AND THEIR WHITE DIVINE ACTIONS SPREAD IN THE TEN DIRECTIONS, MAY THE LIGHT OF LOBSANG’S TEACHINGS,
DISPELLING THE DARKNESS OF THE BEINGS IN THE HTREE WORLDS ALWAYS STAY!
MAY THESE PROFOUND MERITS AND VIRTUES BE DEDICATED TO OUR LINEAGE MASTERS AND TEACHERS TO HAVE GOOD HEALTH AND TURN THE DHARMA WHEEL INFINITELY!
May sentient beings all be well and happy!
