One evening, after visiting my parents and running an errand at Westgate, I saw a pouch on the floor of the mall. I felt that it does not look like something which anyone would throw away. Thus, I picked it up and opened it to see what was within it.

I saw some cash and an EZ-Link card. I decided without hesitation, to bring the pouch to the MRT station’s Passenger Service Counter as the Transit Link office was closed. I ask the officer-on-duty to help do me a favour and pass the pouch to the Transit Link office the next morning.

To my surprise, I got this Whats App message on the following morning.

LOST AND FOUND 2

Many years ago, before I had started learning Buddhism, I may have kept all the money for myself, thinking that I was so lucky to have chanced upon the pouch. However, I wouldn’t do this after learning Buddhism.

If I had found $1 million dollars, I would also choose to return it to the rightful owner as what is not rightfully mine, should not be taken. I am very happy that I have found the right path in life through Buddhism as it teaches us the way to decipher right from wrong.
