Today’s Auspicious Puja was about someone’s toothache?
How is this related to Buddhism and the Goddess of Mercy?
To Lecturer William Poon, who shared today, it definitely was related. He had a toothache rated at a pain level of 5-6 a week ago, where 0 is totally painless and 10 is excruciating unimaginable pain.
So he had to seek the services of a dental specialist as his case was not one which the general practitioner dentist could manage.
After the dental treatment, on his way home, having taken pain killers, his pain grew from 7-8 to an unbelievable 10.
He called the specialist when he reached home to tell him that the pain killers didnt work. He was told to wait.
He waited and waited…but the pain continued. Around the next meal time, he had an awakening moment. His mind had been immersed in the pain that he was going through. He felt he needed to draw his mind away from the pain and take refuge in the Buddha and Triple Gem.
He then remembered that he has some”Moni-pill” and thus chanted 108 chants of OM MANI PADME HOM at the altar of the Goddess of Mercy with his pain killers and the “Moni-pill”.
Half way through his chanting, his pain was quite unbearable but he perservered on to complete the chanting and took both the pain killers and the “Moni-pill”.
Two hours later, unlike previously, where his pain was not reduced by the painkillers, his pain went down to ZERO!
A miracle brought about by the faith towards the Goddess of Mercy!
Painkillers are now left with no purpose to serve.
