What was installed for us at puja today on 5 Nov?

We all love listening to stories. For the two sessions of Mandarin and English Puja, we had the privilege of having Mr and Mrs Patrick Yeo who shared separately in the two sessions.

Mrs Yeo May Lan or Mdm Peh as we know her, shared a beautiful story from Buddha’s time and Mr Yeo shared his testimony of an experience involving his young daughter which strengthened his faith and refuge in the Triple Gems.

The story from Buddha’s time shared by Mdm Peh taught us that it is important for us to find the right virtuous teacher in our lives to guide us.

However, we ourselves need to be willing to walk the path taught by this wise and compassionate teacher. Though many a time, it may involve us stepping out of our comfort zone.

Mr Patrick Yeo’s sharing in English

Mr and Mrs Yeo has a lovely daughter, currently aged 12. One night in her younger days, Mr Yeo’s daughter fell ill in the middle of the night with a high fever and she was also vomiting.

Things took a sharp turn when the little girl’s lips were turning blue.

She was not breathing!

Mrs Yeo repeatedly patted her daughter hard and called out her name loudly.

Like any parent Mr and Mrs Yeo felt helpless but sought refuge in the Buddha to help their daughter as they brought her in front of the home altar.

After a short moment, the little girl miraculously uttered softly: “I am sorry, Shifu…” and with that she gained some consciousness and started breathing again.

Mr Yeo firmly believed that the Buddha and Shifu has helped his daughter to overcome this challenge.

He encouraged all the participants to have strong faith towards the Buddha and take refuge in the Triple Gems. We will have to try it ourselves in order to be convinced! But first, we need to have trust in the Triple Gems and be willing to rely on them.

Rejoice to Mr and Mrs Yeo for their sharings today.

Rejoice to all who participated and volunteered in the Pujas today!
